During the 4th Léman Nautical Show, from the 11th to 13th November of 2016, the Octopus Foundation was amongst the 130 exhibitors. “It was a rewarding experience. We met with many local sailors that were very interested in our outreach effort. The exhibition also proved to be a fantastic opportunity to meet various professionals of the marine world. Some of which are getting more and more interested in Switzerland and its many lakes,” explains Julien Pfyffer.dsc02176

With over 18’000 visitors in three days, this event was also the perfect opportunity to discuss the role a Swiss foundation could play to protect marine turtles and document archaeological sites at the bottom of the sea. “The conclusions we drew from our participation to the show is that the Octopus Foundation’s work produces excellent informative and outreach tools,” says Julien Pfyffer. “Indeed, the public is very curious about and interested in our projects.”

These types of events are important for the Octopus Foundation. Even if they require quite a lot of energy, they allow us to better understand what the public has in mind, and what preoccupies them. “It is essential for us, as it helps us sharpen the choices of our future projects and means of information,” concludes the Foundation’s president.
