To strengthen its international network support and make more visible its action towards key actors in the international scientific community, the Octopus Foundation has conducted a series of meeting at UNESCO.

On the diplomatic side:

  • Meeting with His Excellency Mr. Veis, Greek Ambassador at UNESCO in order to explain the Foundations’ projects in the area of underwater archaeology and notably seek for his support towards academic and governmental institutions in his country in way to develop projects within the Greek waters.
  • Meeting with His Excellency M. Jauslin, Swiss Ambassador at UNESCO in order to present the Foundation’s main objectives and missions in way he will support the Foundation’s actions towards the main international organizations for the establishment of international cooperation agreements.

On the scientific side:

  • Meeting with Mrs. Guérin, head of the Convention for the protection of underwater cultural heritage at the Department of underwater cultural heritage of UNESCO in order to present the Foundation’s objectives in the area of underwater archaeology in way to establish strong collaboration.
  • Meeting with Mrs. Douvere, Coordinator of the Marine Program at the World heritage department of UNESCO in order to present the objectives of the Foundation in the area of marine biology and marine biodiversity in way to establish a cooperative agreement with her department in this domain.
