The foundation is devoted to the preservation of marine habitats through actions and policies ensuring sustainable development.

Doctor Ricardo Duarte teaches conventional and underwater archaeology at the Eduardo Mondlane University of Maputo, Mozambique.

With the help of her husband Ricardo, Yolande Duarte identified and documented the thirty or so shipwrecks in the bay of the Island of Mozambique, and made some extensive researches in Portugese national archives.

The Eduardo Mondlane University is the largest and oldest of Mozambique. Located in the capital of Maputo, it welcomes 30’000 students.
